Tuesday, October 8 - The State Secretary Mariana Lucreteanu, together with the head of the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) Valentin Fiodorov met with the employees of the NORTH Regional Directorate of the GIM, to get informed about the work of the subdivision and to assess the services provided to foreigners in the region.
The State Secretary appreciated the equipment of the Integration Center, where foreigners settling and integrating into the community are provided with services. The renovation of the GIM office in Balti Municipality was carried out with the support of the European Union, the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed the need for an integration guide for foreigners from the North of the country. They also discussed the need to create the right conditions to encourage foreigners to study Romanian, identifying viable solutions and understanding the needs of the beneficiaries in order to create a safe and fair environment.
In his turn, Valentin Fiodorov mentioned the importance of strengthening institutional capacities and mechanisms within the area of competence of the GIM. More attention needs to be paid to the processing of asylum applications, especially those coming from Ukrainian citizens, as well as to the temporary protection of displaced persons.
The General Inspectorate for Migration remains committed to improving services for all foreigners who choose to settle in the Republic of Moldova.
