
The General Inspectorate for Migration (IGM) informs the public that, following the amendments made by Law no.68/2024 amending Law no.273/1994 on identity documents in the national passport system, there will be changes in the process of issuing identity documents for foreign citizens. In this context, we inform you of the following:
1. Accompanying sheets for all types of identity cards and residence permits, in circulation and valid, shall become null as of April 1, 2025.
2. As of April 1, 2025, no information on the address of domicile or temporary residence will be included on the reverse side of the document.
At the same time, compliance with the requirement to inform the IGM within 15 days of a change of domicile or temporary residence remains mandatory.
In this context, we inform you:
- In the period from February 17 to April 1, 2025, the process of submitting applications for the right of residence and documentation with identity documents for foreigners will be carried out in the regular regime, but the simultaneous submission of these applications will be temporarily suspended.
- Between March 25, 2025 and March 31, 2025, the Single Points of Documentation of Foreigners of the Regional Directorates will suspend the process of documentation with identity documents, which will be resumed on April 1, 2025.
