The General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) informs you that starting from March 2, a temporary procedure applies to economic agents employing foreign nationals (minimum 5 employees), as well as to foreign nationals currently undergoing the process of obtaining the right of temporary stay for employment purposes.
This temporary measure is meant to shorten waiting times and make the service process faster and more efficient at the IGM service offices for foreigners.
To avoid overcrowding and to improve the flow of visitors at the Regional Directorate Centre, some changes have been introduced in the process of obtaining the residence card, as follows:
- Requests to obtain or extend a temporary residence permit for work purposes should be submitted at the Regional Directorate offices corresponding to the area where the foreigner has the temporary residence.
- The collection of biometric data (portrait photo and fingerprints) and the signature for the residence card can be completed at any appropriate territorial office of the General Inspectorate for Migration.
Therefore:
The submission of documents for obtaining or extending a temporary residence permit for employment purposes is carried out at the Regional Directorate Centre.
The residence card documentation stage (biometric data collection) shall be carried out as follows:
- North Regional Directorate – appointment by phone: 067 244 277
- South Regional Directorate (Cahul office and Comrat office) – appointment by phone: 078 747 796
- For additional clarifications – Operational Management Directorate of GIM: 067 149 978
At the residence card documentation stage, the foreigner shall present the following documents in original and copy:
- the decision granting/extending the right of temporary stay for employment purposes issued by the Regional Directorate Centre;
- a valid travel document;
- proof of accommodation (in accordance with HG nr.125/2013 for the approval of the Regulation on the Issuance of Identity Documents and the Registration of Inhabitants of the Republic of Moldova.)
The residence card may be collected at the Center Regional Directorate. This service is not provided on an urgent basis.
The Inspectorate recommends that economic agents inform foreign employees in advance about this procedure to ensure compliance with legal deadlines and to avoid possible delays in the documentation process.
This procedure is temporary and remains valid until the issuance of a new official announcement.
