Confirmation regarding the foreigner’s

status on the territory of the Republic of Moldova

The confirmation regarding the foreigner’s status on the territory of the Republic of Moldova is issued by the competent authority for foreigners in order to facilitate foreign nationals' access to public services: enrolling children in kindergarten or school, opening a bank account, registering a company, etc.

It confirms:

  • The assignment of the state identification number of a natural person (IDNP) from State Population Register
  • The issuance of the ID card or lack thereof
  • The registration of domicile/residence or lack thereof
  • The family composition 

Process description

Step 1

Application form

The application for the issuance of the confirmation regarding the foreigner’s status on the territory of the Republic of Moldova shall be submitted in person or by the authorized representative by notarized power of attorney.

The application shall be submitted to the one-stop-shops for the Documentation of Foreigners of the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) as well as to the e-mail: migratie@mai.gov.md.

Directorate of the GIM: Chisinau Municipality, 124 Stefan cel Mare Bd.

  • The One-stop-shop for the Documentation of Foreigners of the NORTH Regional

  • The One-stop-shop for the Documentation of Foreigners of the SOUTH Regional Directorate of the GIM: Comrat Municipality, 22 Comsomolului St.

  • The One-stop-shop for the Documentation of Foreigners of the SOUTH Regional Directorate of the GIM: Cahul Municipality, 79 Ioan Voda cel Cumplit St.

Step 2

Pay for service

Payment can be made at/via:

  • Post offices of Poșta Moldovei
  • Governmental service for electronic payments MPay
  • Bank branches

Pasul 3

Issuance of the confirmation

The confirmation shall be handed to the applicant upon signature or to his/her legal representative, or to an representative authorized by a notarized power of attorney to perform such function.  At the request of the applicant, the confirmation shall be handed by registered post.

When handing over the confirmation, the applicant shall identify him/herself by his/her

identity card, and in the case of hand-deliver to the legal representative or to the representative authorized by power of attorney, the documents proving the right of representation shall be submitted in addition.

Required documents


List of documents required for granting the confirmation regarding the foreigner’s status on the territory of the Republic of Moldova:
  1. Application form
  2. National passport (the page containing personal data and the photo to be attached, if applicable)
  3. Power of attorney and identity card, if the documents are submitted by the legal representative.

Sanctions & penalties


Article 30 of Law 234/2021 provides for disciplinary, civil, administrative or criminal liability, as appropriate, for failure to perform or improper performance of public service tasks.
