The General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) informs that, during the period of 18 March – 1 April, a dedicated schedule will be implemented for receiving applications for residence cards from European Union citizens seeking documentation in the Republic of Moldova.
This measure aims to ensure an efficient and well-organized administrative process, enhance applicants’ comfort, reduce waiting times, and streamline the flow of persons at the GIM service counters.
🔹 Between 18 March and 1 April, European Union citizens may submit their residence card applications at the documentation counters between 08:00 and 12:00.
🔹 During this period, the residence card will be issued within 5 working days from the date of submission of a complete application file.
Documents required for obtaining a residence permit by citizens of the European Union:
a) a valid travel document;
b) a declaration on one’s own responsibility regarding the absence of a criminal record, to be completed at the Single Window for Foreigners’ Documentation of the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM);
c) civil status documents confirming the marriage, where applicable;
d) a document confirming the right of ownership or the right to use a dwelling on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, in accordance with the procedure established by the Government.
The General Inspectorate for Migration thanks the public for their understanding and assures that all necessary efforts will be made to ensure an efficient and secure transition to the new procedures.
These amendments enter into force following the adoption of Law No. 200/2025 on the freedom of movement and residence in the territory of the Republic of Moldova for European Union citizens and their family members.
