The General Inspectorate for Migration grants victims of human trafficking the right to stay legally on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. This service is a measure for the protection of victims’ rights, namely those of women and children witnesses of crimes or particularly vulnerable persons.

The right of provisional stay for victims of trafficking in human beings may be granted to a foreigner who is or has been a victim of trafficking in human beings, including in cases where they entered the country illegally.

The right of residence shall be granted for a period of 6 months with the possibility of extension for further periods of up to 6 months, if the following conditions are cumulatively met:

• the alien shows a clear willingness to cooperate with the competent authorities in identifying and bringing to justice those involved in the commission of the crime of which he or she is a victim

• the alien ended any relationship with the persons suspected of committing the crime of which he is the victim;

• the alien's stay in the country is necessary for the proper conduct of the criminal proceedings;

• the alien doesn’t represent any danger to national security and/or public order;
