A short-stay visa is issued for a fixed period, with one or more stays, not exceeding 90 calendar days during any period of 180 calendar days, which implies taking into account the last 180-day period preceding each day of stay. A short-stay visa may be single-entry or multiple-entry and multiple-exit.
A short-stay visa with a period of stay of less than 90 days may be extended by further periods of stay, so that the total duration of stay granted does not exceed 90 calendar days during any period of 180 calendar days, which implies taking into account the last 180-day period preceding each day of stay. The visa may be extended only for the same purpose for which it was granted.
The application for visa extension shall be submitted at the competent authority for foreigners at least 3 working days before the expiry of the period stated in the visa.
The application for visa extension may be submitted by the foreigner in person, by
the interested institution, organization, enterprise or by the legal representative at one-stop-shops for the documentation of foreigners of the GIM.
