On March 17, the management of the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) met with the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), represented by highly expert personalities involved in the negotiation process with the European Commission on behalf of Greece.
During the meeting, the Head of the Cooperation and Document Management Directorate, Tatiana Ciumaș, presented the GIM's mandate. The meeting also discussed issues related to migration and asylum policies, including the reforms envisaged in the context of the EU accession process. The EPLO expressed its interest in providing technical and practical assistance for the development of public policies in this area, benefiting from the extensive network of legal and public policy experts at their disposal.
At the same time, the participants in the discussion underlined the readiness of the organization to work closely with the Republic of Moldova, providing practical expertise and technical support, including through online collaborations between experts from Greece and Moldova. These initiatives would aim, among other things, to support the expansion and adjustment of services in the event of a migration crisis, as well as the implementation of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum.
The meeting paved the way for a potential official visit of the EPLO to the Republic of Moldova, with a view to further discussions and strengthening collaboration with Moldovan partners.
