Improved indicators for better planning of beneficiary-oriented activities

Between July 7–11, the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) organized a series of workshops aimed at strengthening the knowledge and skills of employees within the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the field of strategic and operational planning of policies on migration, asylum, and the integration of foreigners.

A total of 25 officials from the General Inspectorate for Migration, as well as from other subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, participated in training sessions guided by experts from Romania and Poland.

The main goal of this initiative was to promote results-oriented governance by enhancing institutional capacities for progress monitoring, evaluating the real impact of policies on beneficiaries, and continuously adapting public interventions—especially in the context of implementing the EU Agenda and developing new sectoral programs within the Ministry. A particular focus was placed on the use of SMART indicators (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) as a key tool for informed decision-making and assessing institutional performance.

The workshop was organized with the support of the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX)—a tool designed to strengthen the institutional capacity of public administrations in EU candidate and partner countries (including the Republic of Moldova). TAIEX aims to provide rapid, tailored support for aligning national legislation and practices with EU standards through peer-to-peer exchanges and direct expert assistance.

The General Inspectorate for Migration reaffirms its commitment to actively contribute to the development of a modern, efficient, and people-centered migration management system, as well as to share good practices with colleagues from other MIA subdivisions to build capacity and promote teamwork.
