The leadership of the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) held a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Turki Abdullah Al-Mahmoud, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on identifying areas of mutual interest and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of migration.

The purpose of the meeting was to initiate a new framework of collaboration between the GIM and the Embassy of the State of Qatar. The Qatari side expressed its willingness to share the experience it has gained in the field of migration, given that the State of Qatar manages a significant number of foreign workers on its territory. At the same time, the desire to promote the exchange of best practices and opinions in this field was also mentioned.

His Excellency appreciated the cooperation and professional attitude of the GIM in its relationship with the Embassy of the State of Qatar, highlighting the way in which the documentation process for the diplomatic mission’s staff was managed. In this context, he emphasized the importance of constant dialogue and acknowledged the efforts of the Republic of Moldova in effectively managing migration processes, considering it an example in terms of documenting individuals seeking protection.

The Head of the GIM, Mr. Valentin Fiodorov, reiterated the institution’s commitment to continuously align with European Union standards and to strengthen institutional capacities.

Moreover, the parties agreed on establishing a permanent dialogue and a shared agenda of priorities in the field of communication and bilateral cooperation.
