Second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe Project

The main achievements and challenges the national authorities faced in their efforts to build sustainable migration, asylum and reception systems have been discussed today during the second Steering Committee Meeting of the Council of Europe Project on “Strengthening the human rights protection of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova”. As a beneficiary of the Project, the General Inspectorate for Migration presented relevant data in the field of asylum and migration, including the situation of displaced persons from Ukraine.

We remind you that, in the last 12 months, the GIM team has been involved in several trainings aimed at facilitating the transposition of EU legislation into domestic law. The exchange of best practices with trainers and experts within the Project strengthened the capacities of GIM officers involved in monitoring migration processes. Thus, respecting human rights, ensuring procedural guarantees, increasing the quality of services provided by GIM and avoiding the risks of illegal migration are just some of the areas of activity consolidated with the support of European partners in the last period.
