During the meeting, the head of the GIM, Mr. Valentin Fiodorov, emphasized the role of the Inspectorate in ensuring the integrated management of the state border, the activities carried out in the field of return, as well as the institution’s readiness to expand cooperation with Frontex and participate in joint operations.
Throughout the visit, the Frontex delegation also met with representatives of the "Ştefan cel Mare" Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Academy expressed its interest in hosting the planned training sessions, as it possesses the necessary facilities for conducting both theoretical modules and practical exercises in line with Frontex standards. The intention to diversify these training sessions starting in 2026 was also expressed.
Reinforcing the capacities of the General Inspectorate for Migration, including participation in return operations through collection, is a priority action included in the National Program on Moldova's accession to the European Union for 2025-2029.
