The General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will benefit from the support of the European Union to improve its activity in the field of migration and asylum. Through the Twinning project, the institution will develop a more efficient system aligned with European norms and standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch event was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Diana Salcu\u021ban, along with representatives of national and international authorities, partner organizations, and European institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of 18 months, GIM specialists will collaborate with European experts to analyze and optimize the institution\u2019s legislation and technical capacities. The project includes training sessions, exchanges of experience, study visits, and updates to operational guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three key areas will be addressed: the development of institutional and administrative capacities, the harmonization of asylum and migration legislation with EU standards, and the strengthening of the state\u2019s capacity to manage a potential influx of migrants or refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe implementation of these three components will contribute to delivering higher quality services and ensuring access to appropriate protection measures. It will also support the consolidation of the General Inspectorate for Migration and alignment with EU standards, as well as the identification of best practices to be adopted for more efficient migration management,\u201d stated State Secretary Diana Salcu\u021ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She emphasized the importance of this initiative for the Republic of Moldova, noting that in the first two months of implementation, essential activities such as the initial work plan and the first expert missions have already been completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is implemented by a consortium of three EU Member States \u2013 Sweden (lead partner), Romania, and Greece. Through this initiative, the Republic of Moldova actively contributes to the objectives of Chapter 24 \u2013 Justice, Freedom and Security, as part of its European integration path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
