On Tuesday, June 10, the first meeting of the Steering Committee within the Twinning project \u201cMigration EU-MD \u2013 Strengthening the institutional capacities of the GMI in implementing migration and asylum legislation in line with the EU Acquis\u201d was held at the premises of the General Inspectorate for Migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ms. Diana Salcu\u021ban, along with representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, appointed experts from Sweden, Greece, and Romania, as well as the project leaders: Ms. Katarina Mlekov on behalf of the European Union and Ms. Ina Bogat\u00eei on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the members of the committee unanimously approved the project\u2019s Initial Work Plan and the Communication and Visibility Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is an excellent start to the project. We look forward to seeing the first concrete results of the planned activities,\u201d said Sophie Dagand, representative of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, the project leader from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ina Bogat\u00eei, stated: \u201cThe Ministry is working consistently to advance the implementation of the Republic of Moldova\u2019s European agenda, so that we may become part of the European family as soon as possible. We have been eagerly awaiting the launch of this Twinning project, and the fact that it has now started confirms that we are on the right path. We aim for effective and fruitful cooperation with our partners throughout the entire project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Twinning project \u201cMigration EU-MD\u201d is implemented by a consortium of three EU Member States \u2013 Sweden, Greece, and Romania \u2013 under the coordination of Sweden as project leader. Its objective is to strengthen the institutional capacities of the General Inspectorate for Migration in aligning with the commitments undertaken by the Republic of Moldova in the context of European integration, particularly in the area of Justice, Freedom, and Security (Chapter 24). The project has a duration of 18 months, starting on April 1, 2025, and a total budget of \u20ac1.25 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
