Last week, the General Inspectorate for Migration (GIM) hosted a working visit of experts from the Swedish Migration Agency, organized within the Twinning Project ,,Strengthening the Capacity of the General Inspectorate for Migration to Implement Legislation on Migration and Asylum Management in Line with the EU Acquis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of four days, Swedish experts and their GIM colleagues analyzed the procedures for identifying and managing vulnerable groups of foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission also included a series of meetings with representatives of state institutions, including field visits such as the one carried out at the Palanca Border Crossing Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, meetings and discussions were held with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (MLSP) and the Chisinau Municipal Directorate for the Protection of Children\u2019s Rights (DPDC), as well as with representatives of international organizations and partner non-governmental organizations \u2013 the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF), the Council of Europe (CoE), the NGO \u201cAve Copiii,\u201d the NGO \u201cPeople in Need,\u201d the Law Centre of Advocates (CDA), and the Charity Center for Refugees (CCR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the last day, the main beneficiaries of the training sessions were the staff of the Accommodation Center and the Temporary Placement Center for Foreigners, where discussions focused on issues related to the reception, accommodation, and placement of foreigners, developments before and after the crisis in assisting cases with special needs, as well as the challenges encountered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the mission, swedish experts, together with the GIM team, reviewed the results achieved and the preliminary recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity falls under Component 3 \u2013 Activity 3.2.1. of the Twinning Project, dedicated to aligning the Republic of Moldova with European standards in the field of migration and asylum. At the same time, the mission is part of the screening agenda and the ,,Rule of Law\u201d Roadmap, monitored by the Delegation of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Twinning Project is implemented by a consortium of three EU Member States \u2013 Sweden (lead partner), Greece, and Romania. Its objective is to contribute to strengthening GIM\u2019s capacity to align with the commitments undertaken by the Republic of Moldova in the framework of the European integration process, under Chapter 24 ,,Justice, Freedom and Security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
