Permanent Residence

Who can apply for permanent residence

Foreigners who hold the right of temporary residence for at least 3 years (e.g. a foreign

national married to a citizen of the Republic of Moldova) can apply for permanent residence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

Exceptions to this provision are foreigners enrolled for studies, IT senior managers and IT specialists, posted workers, foreigners employed in investment projects of national importance, foreigners employed in free economic zones and those engaged in religious, humanitarian and volunteer activities.

Conditions

for granting permanent residence


1.The applicant holds a provisional residence permit or has the right to acquire the

citizenship of the Republic of Moldova by recognition

2. The applicant has dwelling space

3. The applicant speaks the state language at a satisfactory level (confirmed by a corresponding

certificate issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research)

4. No criminal record in the last 3 years.

national married to a citizen of the Republic of Moldova

2.Applicant's national passport (original and copy)

3.Residence permit (original and copy)

4.Marriage certificate (original and copy)

5.Valid identity card (original and copy) of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova

6.Child's birth certificate (original and copy)

7.The certificate attesting the level of knowledge of the state language, issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research or a diploma issued by a Romanian-language educational institution, except for recipients of an old-age pension.

8.Criminal record certificate or other document having the same legal value, issued by the authorities of the country of origin

9.The original and a copy of the document proving the right of ownership or use of the dwelling (extract from the Register of Immovable Property or rental contract, registered in accordance with the legislation).

10.Original and copy of the health insurance purchased from the National Health Insurance Company

11.A (one) 3x4 cm color photo.

List of required documents to grant permanent residence to foreign nationals from other categories

  1. The Standard Application Form
  2. Applicant's national passport (original and copy)
  3. Residence permit (original and copy)
  4. Original and copy of the documents of incorporation of the enterprise (recent excerpt from the State Register of Legal Entities, license on the type of activity)
  5. The certificate attesting the level of knowledge of the state language, issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research or a diploma issued by a Romanian-language educational institution, except for recipients of an old-age pension
  6. Criminal record certificate or other document having the same legal value, issued by the authorities of the country of origin
  7. The original and a copy of the document proving the right of ownership or use of the dwelling (extract from the Register of Immovable Property or rental contract, registered in accordance with the legislation).
  8. Original and copy of the health insurance purchased from the National Health Insurance Company
  9. Proof of means of subsistence in the amount corresponding to the category of residence applied for
  10. Confirmation of social, salary and tax contributions for the last 5 years of activity in the Republic of Moldova.
  11. A (one) 3x4 cm color photo.

 NOTES

  • The documents must be submitted at least 90 days before the authorized end of foreigner’s stay in the Republic of Moldova.
  • Failing to meet the deadline for application is subject to administrative penalties.
